Today, AGTER employs a small team of two persons, and several asociate experts:

Master in International Agricultural Economy (Paris XI Orsay).

Specialist in Cellular Biology and Physiology, Sustainable agricultural Development.

From 2014 to 2016, Executive Secretary of the International Committee of the World Forum on Access to Land (2016)

He was previously in charge of the development and projects of the association for 12 years and as such was the Executive Secretary of the International Organizing Committee of the World Forum on Access to Land (WFAL2016).
Before that, he worked for a French departmental Farmer Union: the Confédération paysanne de l’Ain.

Christian Castellanet

Agronomist and ecologist (PhD Institute of Ecology – UGA- USA) specialized in Natural Resource Management and governance. He has been involved with Gret (an INGO based in France) in international cooperation in the field of action research for rural development and natural resource management in West Africa, Carribean, Brazil and more recently South East Asia, where he has been involved in the Mekong Region Land Governance Project, based in Vientiane (Lao PDR) from 2014 to 2018.

Since July 2018, he is working at part time with Gret, and part time with AGTER.

They have been employees of AGTER

Michel Merlet, Co-founder and Director of AGTER from 2005 to 2020

Graduated from the “Institut National Agronomique Paris-Grignon” (National Institute of Agronomy Paris Grignon).

Specialist of land issues. M. Merlet worked on the Nicaraguan agrarian reform in the 70’s and in the 80’s.

He has been working since 1988 as an expert in the field of land policies and management of natural resources in many countries of Latin America, Africa, Europe and Asia.

PhD in Geography from the University of Paris Ouest (Nanterre La Défense). (Thesis: Bitter peasantry in the cradle of brown gold: coffee development and dislocation of peasant societies in southwestern Ethiopia). He is now a lecturer at AgroParisTech.

Master II in Agricultural Development and Economic Policies (University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne - IEDES).

Previously, she was in charge of the campaigns for Amnesty International’s "Freedoms" program, after having been the Campaign Coordinator and network animator for the Confédération Paysanne. She also worked previously for Terre de liens Île de France and was stationed in the Central African Republic and Honduras as project manager for Solidarité international and Fundacion COPADE respectively.
